SIX OF THE BEST: Magician & Actor Ali Cook

film reviews | movies | features | BRWC SIX OF THE BEST: Magician & Actor Ali Cook

Welcome to another edition of SIX OF THE BEST, the semi regular part of BRWC where we fire six questions at lovely people.  This time, we talk to magician and actor Ali Cook who appears is Noel Clarke’s The Anomaly

So, what is The Anomaly all about, and why should we see it?

The Anomaly is about what happens when technology becomes so powerful it can be used to control people’s minds. It’s a sci fi action adventure that will keep you guessing. And why should you see it? Apart from the fact that I’m in it? Great fight sequences all shot in one take (so we really are hitting each other) and Ian Somerhalder.

How did you find working with Noel Clarke?

Noel is great- very determined and focused – and brilliant  to work with a director who is also an actor as he understands the acting process.

How have you found the transition from magic to acting?

It’s the same really – wearing a costume while holding props and making sure you don’t forget your lines. But seriously I love the challenge of acting and telling a story – it makes a change from just trying to get an audience to say “wow’ all the time.

What are your thoughts on films about magic or magicians?

A film can be about any subject- as long as it tells a great story.

What’s next for you?  More films?  Live shows?

Yes more films and more live shows. I’m actually working on another sci fi film as we speak and I’m previewing a brand new live magic show. So I’m constantly switching between acting and magic (you can catch the magic at Harrogate Theatre 17th and 18th July) .

Anything else you want to get off your chest?! If you don’t like football go to the cinema and watch The Anomaly instead.
