To mark the release of Cuban Fury starring Nick Frost, Chris O’Dowd and Rashida Jones in cinemas now, we’re taking a look at the top five men who can dance in films…

Channing Tatum in Step Up

Tatum stars in this romantic dance film, and boy he can dance! He plays a skilled but troubled dancer who performs incredibly well along with his put together dance partner Jenna Dewan. Step Up has done amazingly well in the box office and has gone on to produce three sequels; Step Up 2:The Streets, Step Up 3D, and Step Up Revolution.

Kevin Bacon in Footloose

Footloose is an American musical-drama film, which tells the story of Ren McCormack (Kevin Bacon); an upbeat teen who moves to a small town. However,  as a result of the efforts of the local minister, dancing and rock music become banned. However, Ren’s rebellious spirit shakes up the populace. Bacon’s role in Footloose is what made him a pop culture icon. Bacon will forever be remembered for his character’s over-the-top dance scenes in Footloose.

Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing

When anyone thinks of men who can dance in movies, Patrick Swayze will be at the top of everyone’s list. His role in Dirty Dancing is romantic, sexy, and unforgettable. Especially the scene when he lifts Baby up. The story is a coming of age drama that follows a teenage girl coming of age as she embarks on a relationship with her dance instructor whom she meets on summer vacation. As well as Dirty Dancing, Swayze has appeared in other dance films such as One Last Dance, and Dirty Dancing Havana Nights.

John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever

Probably the most iconic disco dance move in history comes from John Travolta in his dazzling white suit in the film Saturday Night Fever. The iconic and symbolic dance move that Travolta strikes is from the choreographically revamped Stayin’ Alive which was re-released as Saturday Night Fever. Another iconic film in which Travolta dances particularly well is of course, Grease! From Grease Lightning to dancing at the school prom, we all love watching John bust out those dance moves on the dance floor!

Nick Frost in Cuban Fury

To finish off, we have a new male dancer in the British comedy Cuban Fury which is in cinemas now. Not usually known to appear in movies that involve dancing, Nick has proven that he really CAN dance, an in particular Salsa Dancing. Usually appearing in comedies alongside his side kick Simon Pegg, Nick Frost has taken a leap in a different direction, and stars in this romantic comedy where he attempts to go back to his early years as a former salsa prodigy and makes a come back. And boy he does it well!
