Mamiwata: The Evil African Mermaid

Mamiwata, based on true events, is the first horror movie from Gabon Films, a California based movie production company. It is written by Chris Ferrantino, and will be directed by Danielle Fisher and Jordan Best.

Mamiwata is a paranormal thrilling, creepy horror tale that brings the audience into the heart of the African wilderness.  There, four American students and their professor, searching for Iboga,  a potential cure to drug addiction, unwittingly unleash the wrath of the evil Mermaid called Mamiwata. You can find more about the movie at www.mamiwatafilm.com

Mamiwata is a water goddess, highly venerated all over Africa.  Countless countries have followers of Mami Wata, who claim to have had encounters with this powerful mermaid, who has the ability to heal and punish. No Hollywood movie has ever been made about this African mermaid.  This is why the filmmakers were determined to bring this legend to a worldwide audience for the first time. The movie will be shot in the heart of the Gabonese jungle in central Africa, so everything is set to create an authentic scenery for this original story.
