5 Actors that need a superhero franchise… and stat!

Studios seem convinced that they need a big, A-list star to carry a superhero movie franchise – simply because it worked for “Iron Man”. But does anyone remember a little movie called “Superman”, starring a then-unknown Christopher Reeve? Or how about “Batman Begins” – starring little known indy actor Christian Bale? By all indications, the lesser known the star, the better the movie.

Here are 5 up-and-comers that Hollywood might want to consider for their next big superhero movie franchise.

Noah Bean

Best known for : TV’s “Damages”, “Nikita”

A familiar face on the telly these years,  35-year-old Noah Bean has quickly proven his versatility across an array of genres  – in particular, the action/thriller.  After he’s done filming the upcoming “12 Monkeys” series, studio brass might want to screentest him for… well, something (He might’ve made a good ‘Superman’, actually). He’s on the up.

Jared Ward

Best known for : TVs “Homeland”

Ward, memorable as Youself Turani on “Homeland”, has the build, charisma and – if those fan pages are anything to go by –  enough of a following to make the gamble of going the unknown route (over the ‘Downey Jr’ route) worthwhile. To look at him, we already see one character he’d be perfect for.. The Punisher!

Sullivan Stapleton

Best known for : ”300 : Rise of an Empire”

His performance in breakout indy hit ”Animal Kingdom” quickly earned Stapleton a spot  on Hollywood’s radar; in 2014, he headlines ”300 : Rise of an Empire”, filling in for fellow muscle Gerard Butler.  Even if the latter isn’t a huge hit, having that ‘in’ at Warner Bros is surely a plus!?.. especially when it comes to DC’s upcoming superhero movies. A pity Batman’s taken.

Cody Deal

Best known for  : “The Almighty Thor”

The looks of Chris Hemworth, the build of Dolph Lundgren, and the versatility of Owen Wilson (yes, Owen Wilson does have versatility!), actor and athlete Cody Deal – who got his big break, like Hemsworth, playing Norse god Thor -looks like he stepped out of the pages of a comic book!  Has Marvel got anyone for the Sub-Mariner movie, yet!?

Dax Flame

Best known for : “21 Jump Street”

Yes, he’s gangly-looking, and yes, he’s more Adam Sandler than Arnold Schwarzenegger, but there’s plenty of comic book characters that could really do with an amazingly talented, funny and appropriately geeky-looking thesp!  Just in case Paul Rudd passes, maybe keep this guy in mind for ‘Ant Man’, Edgar Wright! This guy is going places, and quickly!
