You’ve seen the trailer. Now I managed to spend time with Manuel H. Da Silva, the director.
So, tell me about The Unleashed. What’s it all about? The Unleashed is about the origin of the Ouija board and how one mans greed peeked his interest to steal the board and patent it. Later down the line his great, great grand-daughter recovers the board after she returned home from Europe and the movie takes off from there. The moral of the film is about whether or not people should believe in or play with the Ouija board. How long was the process from initial concept to filming The Unleashed?I remember this well. Myself and Diane were toying with the idea of coming up with a story that people haven’t heard about in a long time, this was back in April of 2007 just before I started shooting my last film and the Ouija board came up as a potential topic. What were the greatest challenges on set?I would have to say the long hours.Do you feel the film has an underlying message?Yes… don’t let your fears run your life you should face them head-on, you will live a happier lifeWhat will audiences take away from it?The Ouija board is not a game. I hope that the audience gets scared throughout this film and along with the scares they will share a laugh here and there & have some emotional empathy for the main characters, if they do, then I’ve done my job. What are you hoping for when it’s out?I am hoping more than anything, that people learn a little it about the Ouija boards history, and that they are very entertained and oh yea, don’t play with the Unknown.Anything you want to get off your chest right now ?!I’m terrified to fly.
