This evening Leeds filmmaker and former radio presenter Danny Lacey will broadcast live and uninterrupted on the internet for a full 24 hours in a bid to secure £2,000 worth of funding towards his next short film project, Love Like Hers.
Danny has been planning his new short film for the last six months and charting his filmmaking adventure in intricate detail through his film blog, on twitter and in 1 hour live broadcasts online every fortnight. The budding writer/producer/director aims to rally support from viewers with his open and honest account of the filmmaking process and has set himself the ultimate goal of achieving Academy Award success in the short film category within the next three years.
In return for their donations viewers will be offered a series of incentives starting from £20 to be a ‘Film Buddy’ and exclusive updates on the film and special mention on the live show, £35 to have your face in the credits, £50 to be an Associate Producer, £65 for a 1 hour web-chat with Danny, £100 to get a full Producers Pack (script drafts, storyboard, call sheets etc), £350 to be a VIP guest at the premiere and £650 for product placement in the film (only 2 slots available).
Danny’s efforts so far have not gone unnoticed and he has received enthusiastic support from fellow indie filmmakers and bloggers across the globe and a number of leading film industry professionals have donated their time to the project. He recently caught the attention of BAFTA winning director Duncan Jones (MOON, SOURCE CODE) who is set to lend his support and appear on a future live show.
The live show entitled ‘The Filmmakers Journey’ features special guest interviews, insider tips on filmmaking and live chat and has already notched up over 62,000 viewer minutes since Danny began transmitting from his Leeds studio back in January. The campaign has already secured nearly £2,000 (20% of the total budget of £10,000) but Danny hopes this special 24 hr push will help bring him that much closer to the grand total. As he explains himself…
“I’m the first indie filmmaker in the world to host a live show, an open and honest account of the filmmaking process – the 24 hour live broadcast will be the ultimate test of my metal but I love to continually challenge myself and innovate and I hope others will be inspired by sharing in my journey.”
