Up In The Air will battle it out with Precious for the coveted Scripter Award, which honours both the author and screenwriter of the year’s best book-to-film adaptation.
The George Clooney film and Precious will compete with Crazy Heart, District 9 and An Education for the honour, which will be announced at the University of Southern California’s Edward L. Doheny Library in Los Angeles on 6 February.
Last year’s Scripter winner, Slumdog Millionaire.
The Scripter selection committee featured Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s writer mother Naomi Foner and musician T Bone Burnett.
