The Hit Squad

film reviews | movies | features | BRWC The Hit Squad

The Hit Squad follows Roddy Stones and his washed-up 80s band as they try and get one more hit record to save their studio from the hands of their rivals. Combining the retro style pixel animation with a unique 80’s soundtrack and a host of unhinged characters, The Hit Squad will be one of the internet’s most memorable releases

Chris Blundell, the Writer/Director of the film, has now opened up to the public to get involved and be part of the movie. Using crowd-sourcing, he is offering the chance to be in the movie as an extra or, if you fancy yourself as an actor, to get yourself a speaking part in the movie.

The film is now in production with a release date of late 2010 and a unique episodic internet release, it’s set to be a truly memorable experience.

Chris is a professional musician and originally wrote the film as a comedy TV series about his experiences and stories on the road and in the studio. The scripts were sent to TV companies and was nearly picked up by several TV companies, unfortunately the stations were unsure a TV audience was ready for the unique animation style. The scripts went through several revisions and eventually were reworked as a feature length movie script. He is also composing the music for the film creating a synthesized 80s score using authentic 80s keyboards, drum machines and samplers.

The soundtrack is recorded using authentic 80s synthesizers and drum machines: Yamaha DX7, Casio keyboards, Linndrum, Roland 808s… the lot. An authentic classic 80s soundtrack, full of The Hit Squad‘s classic hits. The soundtrack will be available to buy on CD, iTunes, Spotify and all the usual download stores.

Really looking forward to seeing this! Watch this space…
