It has just been confirmed that Dakota Fanning will be joining the cast of New Moon, the sequel to the highly popular Twilight series. The 15 year old starlet will be taking on the role of the Volturi vampire, Jane, who is described in the book to have a cherub-like face and crimson irises.
The second film in the saga has a scheduled release for Nov. 20, 2009, just a year after the release of Twilight. Chris Weitz has stepped up to direct New Moon, and Summit Entertainment is currently looking for a director for the third film Eclipse since they plan to release that within 9-12 months of New Moon‘s release. Rumors and speculation have mentioned Drew Barrymore for consideration; however, nothing has been confirmed yet.
