Seduced by dreams of making it big, song-writer Gretta (Keira Knightley) and her singer boyfriend Dave (Adam Levine) move to New York to pursue their passion for music. However, when Dave rejects her for the fame and fortune of a big solo contract, Gretta finds herself alone and far from home.
Seeking comfort in the arms of dear friend Steve (James Corden), Gretta and Steve end up drinking spirits in his apartment before deciding to drunk-dial Dave. With Steve on keyboard and Gretta singing down the phone and playing guitar, her voicemail makes Dave realise that he made a huge mistake in letting her go.
