    Unstoppables

Unstoppables, an emotionally uplifting documentary about Spain’s Paralympic cycling team, receives its World Premiere on Saturday 15th February at Berlin Independent Film Festival (8th – 18th February). Directed by Daniel Jariod and produced by UK’s Black Train Films, it’s a heartfelt story that explores our ability to fight our fears and follow our dreams no matter what misfortunes we face.

Shot mainly at the Barcelona Velodrome, the film focusses on The Pirates, the city’s paracycling team, in the months leading up and directly after the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Headed by founder Juanjo Méndez with Raquel Acinas, the core members of The Pirates train for the race of their lives, encouraged by their coach Bernat Moreno. Their personal stories, intertwine with their sporting achievements as we explore how a passion for cycling has transformed their outlook on life, empowering them with the courage to overcome their disabilities and, with the support of family and friends, to fulfil their dreams on two wheels in front of a global audience. Their competitive racing in Barcelona and at the Velodrome in London’s Olympic Park is filmed with exhilarating pace, contrasting with quieter reflective moments at London’s historic Herne Hill Velodrome.

Unstoppables is directed by Daniel Jariod, produced by Liz Roberts, executive produced by Richard Galvani, edited by Fernando Pardo and has a score composed by Lyn Levitt, member of the British ParaOrchestra, who played at the Paralympics’ closing ceremony. Established in 2008, Black Train Films was set up by Richard Galvani in order to produce creative documentaries with a cultural and human interest focussing on young directors and social issues. Previous projects include Amb Música Ho Escoltaries Potser Millor (2009) by Daniel Jariod (in collaboration with Televisió de Catalunya), and Jazz, What A Wonderful World (2010) co-directed by Jariod and Galvani . Worldwide distribution rights are available for all territories.

  • 99% UK Release Date

    99% UK Release Date

After a World Premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, where the film was acquired by Participant Media for North American release, 99% continued on an award-winning international festival run. Now, for the first time, on 14 February, 99% – The Occupy Wall Street Collaborative Film will be available on demand to international audiences. (Preorders available until the 14th.)

The sweeping story of the birth of a movement, 99% – The Occupy Wall Street Collaborative Film follows a disparate group of activists who converged on lower Manhattan’s Zuccotti Park to build a new society. Inspired by the idea that wealth and power were disproportionately wielded by an elite few, parks across the country (and world) were soon Occupied. But what did they want? And would their own processes hinder them in achieving it?

As mainstream news failed to find answers, police forces around the country perpetrated indelible acts of violence against American citizens and evicted encampments. Now, the Occupation finds itself at a crossroad: what’s next? In an era of hopelessness and resignation, 99% offers a striking portrait of those who refused to accept the status quo, while analysis from activists, experts, and detractors finally brings the story into focus.

Made by 100 contributors in an experimental collaborative process, 99% was conceived and coordinated by award-winning New York filmmakers Audrey Ewell and Aaron Aites (Until The Light Takes Us).
