Ride Along Producer & Director Meet Top Talent

Wednesday night saw Tim Story & William Packer (director & producer of ‘Ride Along’) & E4/YouTube stars Mandem on the Wall meet with some of the UK’s most talented young filmmakers and aspiring actors at Latimer Talks.

The event, which was organised by award-winning youth engagement agency Latimer Group and promoted solely through social media, saw Story, Packer & Mandem on the Wall engage with a packed room of budding filmmaking talent, just days before the UK release of their latest film, ‘Ride Along’ starring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube.

With over 200 young creatives in attendance, the venue, Camden Collective, was packed to standing room only. The crowd were electrified throughout with feedback from attendees referring to the event as “inspirational.”

“Attended the talk – went home – and immediately went straight back into my script work. Inspired.” said Ging, an aspiring actor, currently studying at L.A.M.D.A.

Kore, a regular at Latimer Talks, said the event was “the best event ever…it was a blast!”

“Latimer are at the forefront of an emerging, underground scene that is bringing together the freshest UK creative talent with the very best industry professionals in order to develop & deliver engaging content as well as connecting top creative talent across London with the biggest names in the business.” said Matthew Hay, Director at Latimer Group. “The story of Tim & Will’s journey to the very top of Hollywood is a real inspiration for the youth talent that we see at Latimer everyday. They tore the house down!”

Mandem on the Wall (writers Joivan Wade, Percelle Ascott and Dee Kartier, and director Freddie Osborne), who opened the night, produced and aired their first episode on YouTube on 24th December 2011, and have since gone on to rack up over 5,000,000 views on YouTube. Since then, Mandem have worked with Latimer Group to co-create a number of campaigns and, owing to their enormous success online, recently featured in E4 comedy drama, “Youngers”.

Famous for their work on films such as Fantastic FourThink Like a ManBarbershop & Stomp the Yard, Story and Packer have consistently wowed audiences around the world, working with some of Hollywood’s biggest names including Beyoncé, Kevin Hart, Jessica Alba, and Ice Cube. Their most recent film ‘Ride Along’ reined the box office charts for several weeks following it’s release in the US last month and is believed to have grossed $120m worldwide to date.

  • Jennifer Lawrence & Leonardo DiCaprio Most Desirable From The #Oscars

Jennifer Lawrence & Leonardo DiCaprio Most Desirable From The #Oscars

Paying homage to great acting isn’t the only reason we tune into the Oscars. The latest survey released by Victoria Milan, the leading extramarital website for married people and attached seeking for affairs, reveals that Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio win the most votes from cheaters.

1st March 2014 – Just in time for the 2014 Oscars, leading infidelity website Victoria Milan has released survey results concerned which 4,000 of its members would choose for their dream affair. Both female and male members participated in this vote to decide who would win in the Hottest Actor and Hottest Actress categories.

Cheating females on Victoria Milan chose four-time nominee Leonardo DiCaprio as their top choice for a love affair with 27% of the votes. This time nominated for The Wolf of Wall Street, DiCaprio has been a favourite of the cheating housewife since Titanic. Men frequenting VM overwhelmingly chose the fresh and beautiful 23 year-old Jennifer Lawrence, nominated for her role in American Hustle. Perhaps her tough girl debut set against her feminine beauty is what does it for cheating men; whatever it is, she received a staggering 48% of the votes.

In second place unfaithful women chose British Oscar veteran Cristian Bale, nominated for American Hustle, with 20% of the votes; third place with 19% of the vote was won by Matthew McConaughey, nominated for his role as an AIDS patient in Dallas Buyers Club.

Although Jennifer Lawrence left her competition in the dust for this vote, 15% of cheating men chose Julia Roberts, nominated for her role in August: Osage County. Amy Adams, nominated for her sexy role in American Hustle, followed in third place with 12% of the male vote.

Sigurd Vedal, CEO and founder of Victoria Milan, comments, “Every year the Oscars draw the attention of millions of men and women following their favourite movie stars. Seeing that star you love in real life, out of character, is the perfect way to unleash your imagination. Who hasn’t cast their favourite movie star in their own an erotic dream? And cheaters overall are more likely to pursue their fantasies!”

  • Colchester Film Festival World Premiere

    Colchester Film Festival World Premiere

Colchester Film Festival is proud to welcome local writer/director Ronnie Thompson to Colchester’s iconic firstsite visual arts gallery to showcase his new film ‘I am Soldier’ starring Noel Clarke (Star Trek into Darkness) and Tom Hughes (About Time) on the 7th of March. The cast and crew will be introducing the film and taking part in a Q and A session after the screening.

The latest film from ‘Tower Block’ Director Ronnie Thompson follows Mickey (Tom Hughes) taking on the most dangerous military training known to man: SAS selection. The Special Air Service is the UK’s most renowned Special Forces regiment, tasked with missions in some of the most dangerous and hostile locations on the planet. Mickey is smashed by the gruelling selection process- physically, mentally and emotionally. But, when the Counter Terrorism Squadron take charge of a deadly situation, Mickey, Carter (Noel Clarke) and their fellow recruits advance into conflict to see if they really do have what it takes. Many try to get into the SAS. Only the elite prevail.

This premiere continues the festival’s tradition of showcasing and discovering filmmaking talent and inspiring the next generation of filmmakers.

The fastest growing festival of its type in the UK, Colchester Film Festival takes place 22nd to the 26th of October 2014 in firstsite. The festival is accepting short and feature film submissions until July 1st 2014 and it is free to enter.

Festival Director Adam Piercy said, “We are delighted to bring the first world premiere to Colchester. Bringing events like this to Colchester shows how fast the festival is growing, and the reputation it has already achieved within the filmmaking community.”

A limited number of tickets have been released to the public, and are available here: https://uk.patronbase.com/_firstsite/Productions/IASP/Performances
