Previously available only to fans in the UK and limited territories in western Europe, Karlsruhe-based asknet has come aboard to manage the e-commerce en- gine and operations for the expanded site.

“Our extensive global fan base is growing rapidly, and we are excited to be able to expand our offerings to meet the needs and expectations of our European fans who are thirsting for new ways to engage with their favourite programming,” said Diana Pessin, Director of Mar- keting and E-commerce, HBO Global Licensing. “As our programming continues to reach new audiences, the HBO Shop is now able to provide all of our essential products to com- plete the fan experience.”

The HBO Shop features branded merchandise including apparel, jewelry, glassware, games, and premium collectables from all of HBO’s acclaimed series, including fan favorites such as the Funko Pop! Over the past several years, the Shop has experienced rapid growth across several European markets, including the UK and Ireland, as well as increasing demand for product from fans across the continent. In its new format, the Shop provides services in local languages and acceptance of local currencies via the most popular payment methods, making it far easier for European fans to purchase goods from their favourite HBO shows.

  • New Post-Riot Doc On London Live This Sunday

New Post-Riot Doc On London Live This Sunday

A new film exploring the difficult lives of inner city youth three years after the London riots of 2011 will tx this Sunday at 7pm on London Live. Directed by first time documentary filmmaker Sebastian Thiel & mentored by renowned filmmaker Penny Woolcock, Trap Town explores the idea that London continues to trap its young people in a cyclical life of poverty & crime.

Trap Town will form part of London Live commissioner Derren Lawford’s Platform 8 strand, a Sunday evening showcase for new and innovative documentary talent.

The documentary will be followed by 8 Debate a live panel discussion show hosted by London Live’s Gavin Ramjaun who will be joined by Sebastian and the documentary’s presenter/reporter, comedian and actor Babatunde Aleshe.

For Thiel, who has already developed a substantial audience online under the pseudonym ‘SirBastian’, the opportunity couldn’t have come at a better time – “Having produced a lot of videos for online through the years, I feel like it’s time I moved my work to a bigger platform. I don’t feel like there are a lot of filmmakers with my tone of voice on TV and, as a result, really feel privileged to have been given this opportunity so soon by Derren & the guys at Latimer.”

Jack Woodcraft, director at Latimer Group & producer on Trap Town says “From Latimer’s point of view, we think it is very important that London Live is giving young directing talent a platform to analyze and comment on the most pressing problems that are facing London right now.”

  • A Tribute To Vera Chytilova

    A Tribute To Vera Chytilova

The Czech Centre, Dazed & Confused, Picturehouse and Second Run DVD present a double bill of Vera Chytilová’s anarchic and wildly satirical masterpiece and Martin Šulík’s documentary portrait Věra Chytilová from the Golden Sixties series in tribute to director Věra Chytilová (2 February 1929 – 12 March 2014), pioneer of the Czech New Wave. Introduced by Dazed & Confused film critic Carmen Gray.

    Date: 13 April 2014, 6 pm
Venue: Hackney Picturehouse, 270 Mare St, London E8 1HE

DAISIES: “Extremely funny, witty and expertly-fashioned film… displays a remarkable control of filmic language, special effects, rhythm and sight gags” – Variety

Věra Chytilová (1929 – 2014 ) was one of the foremost directors of the 60s Czech New Wave. Her career from the start was daring and original with an ability to observe ordinary, everyday things in an unconventional way and from unexpected angles, revealing the moral problems of contemporary society. A highly original and uncompromising filmmaker, Chytilová directed almost 30 films, both fictions and documentaries.
