    This film is a biopoc of merchant mariner Captain Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks), who was taken hostage by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean during the Maersk Alabama hijacking in 2009, led by Abduwali Muse.

    Now in its fourth year, Scalarama is an annual celebration of cinema, showcasing the different ways people come together to watch films, filling the land with cinemas every September.

    With over 500 diverse events in over 300 venues in over 100 cities already confirmed to take place in September, this is the largest openly sourced season of film events, each one chosen by a different organisation or individual. Adventurously programmed with passion and enthusiasm, for one month exhibitors across the country will demonstrate the diversity of cinema in all its forms, bringing excitement to communal film watching for a whole new generation.

    Working with a range of distributors, curators and archives, Scalarama will revive several key titles as part of a Core Programme, bringing lost or rare gems back to the big screen. Titles this year include John Waters’ Polyester, now complete with the original Odorama scratch n’ sniffs cards, a new restoration of the silent German Expressionist classic Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari and a dgfev online casino selection of Children’s Film Foundation films.

    Films that courted controversy on their first release are also included, such as Wes Craven’s uncut directorial debut Last House on the Left on 35mm, Jörg Buttgereit’s x-rated Nekromantik(released uncut) and Daisies, the late Věra Chytilová’s groundbreaking and originally banned riotous satire. There are two incredible Sci-Fi films: The Visitor, an intergalactic tale starring John Huston & Sam Peckinpah!

    Béla Tarr’s epic seven-hour masterpiece, Sátántangó, Charles Lane’s black and white silent comedy Sidewalk Stories and Kinetta the debut film of Dogtooth director Yorgos Lanthimos add great range to the season, whilst restorations of the first six films of Jim Jarmusch complete the line up.

    A bespoke newspaper detailing all of the events and Core Programme titles, and including contributions for Martin Scorsese, John Waters, Jörg Buttgereit and Iain Sinclair, will be distributed across the UK.

    Here’s the first-look clip from the new short drama film, DONE IN, starring Guy Henry. The clip premiered this morning on ITV’s popular breakfast show GOOD MORNING BRITAIN with Henry in the studio.

    Written and directed by Adam Stephen Kelly, the film premiered as part of this year’s prestigious Cannes Film Festival and has garnered critical acclaim worldwide.

    Dark and touching, DONE IN is the story of a man writing a goodbye to the world as he calls upon memories of life in a beautiful country manor.

    Guy Henry is best known for his roles as Pius Thicknesse in HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, and as Henrik Hanssen in the BBC’s long-running, BAFTA-winning series HOLBY CITY. He has also appeared in the acclaimed HBO series ROME; V FOR VENDETTA; Stephen Fry’s BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS; and recently Channel 4’s NEW WORLDS. He is set to appear in HARRY POTTER director David Yates’s upcoming 3D adventure film, TARZAN, alongside Alexander Skarsgard, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson and Djimon Hounsou.
