  • The Hard Men Of Comedy

    The Hard Men Of Comedy

They may be better known for their rough talking, hard fighting and dangerous living but even hard men need a break from time to time to take a walk on the lighter side, and it would seem that they’ve all had a crack at it.

To celebrate the DVD release of Run For Your Wife on the 16th September we’ve rounded up some of the hardest men of comedy.

    Danny Dyer

Danny Dyer made his first foray into comedy with Human Traffic, and has been Britain’s favourite geezer since. After a stint as a football hooligan in The Football Factory and a Costa del Crime drug lord in The Business, he returned to his funny man roots in Run For Your Wife last year.

    Vinnie Jones

After making a name for himself in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Gone in Sixty Seconds, Vinnie Jones obviously found the gangster life too much for him and turned to intimidating teenage girls in Shakespeare-influenced High School comedy She’s The Man.

    Bruce Willis

Best known as gun-wielding John McClane in the Die Hard franchise, Bruce Willis showed his softer side as Rachel’s overly emotional boyfriend Paul in Friends, and even voiced characters in kids’ films Rugrats Go Wild and Over The Hedge. Willis will reprise the role of McClane in Die Hardest, but will always be known as the hard man with a heart.

    Jason Statham

Another protégée of Guy Ritchie, Jason Statham blazed the way as one of Britain’s best known hardmen after his roles in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Revolver. Soon after, Statham lay down his weapons and tried out his comedy chops in Gnomeo and Juliet and Mean Machine.

    Arnold Schwarzenegger

Everyone’s favourite politician, Schwarezenegger started off as The Terminator, before clowning around in Kindergarten Cop and Jingle All the Way, and eventually having the last laugh as Governor of California. The Terminator 5 is set for release in 2015, so don’t worry, he’ll be back.

Run For Your Wife is out on DVD on the 16th September

The artwork for the quad poster was specially commissioned by Eureka Entertainment, and has been created by Cliff Spohn, one of the original artists of the Atari 2600 game cover art in the early ’80s. Some of Cliff Spohn’s Atari 2600 covers include favourites such as Asteroids, Defender, Haunted House and Video Chess.

  • The Fall 2013 Movie Lineup Is Kind Of A Big Deal

The Fall 2013 Movie Lineup Is Kind Of A Big Deal

The summer might be gasping its last fiery breath, but that means that the fall blockbuster season is just about to start. This year’s autumn lineup looks to be promising, with lots of action-packed films featuring comic book superheroes, a slew of sequels, romance galore, and side-splitting comedy — we hope, anyway. Here are a few of the films slated for release in October, November, and December:

    ‘Gravity’

Agoraphobes and sufferers of Astrophobia take heed: This space-based movie may trigger bouts of dizziness and feelings of insignificance in the grand scheme of things. The rest of us, however, can marvel at the universe’s expanse along with film’s stars George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. Directed by Alfonso Cuaron (“Y Tu Mama Tambien,” “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”), the film follows Clooney and Bullock as two astronauts stranded in open space after an accident disables their space craft. It’s already been touted by James Cameron as “the best space film ever done.” Alright, Mr. Cameron, we’re holding you to that. Release Date: October 4, 2013.

    ‘Carrie’

We didn’t even realize we needed a remake of the blood-spattered 1976 horror classic. Apparently, however, MGM, Screen Gems, director Kimberly Peirce (“Boys Don’t Cry”), and screenplay writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (“Glee”), felt differently. In this revamp, Chloe Grace Moretz, known for her roles in “Kick-Ass” and “Let Me In,” will take her turn as Carrie White, the troubled teenaged psychic with a religious psychopath for a mother, played in the remake by Julianne Moore. Rumor has it that it’s been updated (naturally) (2), and we’re hoping that the combination of Peirce’s gritty directing style and Aguirre-Sacasa’s background in comic book writing will add even more layers to the well-worn Stephen King story. If you somehow missed seeing the original version, get to GetDirectTV.org to check it out. It’s required viewing for any horror movie lover. Release Date: October 18, 2013.

    ‘Ender’s Game’

We approach the movie version of the wildly-successful and well-loved 1977 Orson Scott Card science-fiction novel with a great deal of trepidation. The idea of an adaptation has been floating around Hollywood for years, but the book was often considered unfilmable (Card said so much himself) (3) because so much of the action takes place in a zero-gravity environment. It took a true diehard fan of the book, Gavin Hood (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine”), to direct the film starring Harrison Ford as Colonel Graff and Asa Butterfield as Ender Wiggin. The story centers around the Earth’s prolonged war against an alien species, and Ender’s pivotal role in the outcome of the conflict. We’re curious to see how Hood handles Card’s difficult material, as well as one of the best endings to any sci-fi book we’ve ever read. Release Date: November 1, 2013.

    ‘Thor: The Dark World’

One cannot talk about fall movie releases without mentioning at least one Marvel superhero movie, so thank goodness we’ve got the sequel to 2011’s “Thor” coming down the pike. Directed by Alan Taylor (“Game of Thrones,” “Boardwalk Empire,” and “Board to Death”), “Thor: The Dark World” picks up where the first movie and last year’s “The Avengers” left off, with Earth and the Nine Realms in need of Thor’s mighty hammer-wielding ways. But most importantly, Natalie Portman will be back as his love interest, Jane Foster. Release Date: November 8, 2013.

    ‘Anchorman II: The Legend Continues’

Are we more excited about this sequel than any sequel ever? Yeah, pretty much. We are huge fans of the original “Anchorman” released in 2004, and we expect more of the same wacky antics courtesy of Ron Burgandy and the rest of San Diego’s Channel 4 News Team. This sequel might be kind of a big deal. Release Date: December 20, 2013.

  • Vin Diesel Fun

    Vin Diesel Fun

Riddick is in cinemas now, with Vin Diesel reprising his role as the eponymous outlaw as he seeks retribution and a return to his home planet. (Riddick, not Vin Diesel, that’d be a different film entirely).

Vin Diesel is known for being something of a beefcake, and helpfully, we’ve worked out his weight in beef(burgers) amongst other universally recognised units of measurement.
