From N64 to Online Casino: Top Four Best Movie to Game Crossovers

Movies and the video game industry have always had close ties. When games were first being made for the mass market, many of them would the themes and ideas would derive from popular films. This relationship has even seen a shift in the other direction in recent years, with a few games being turned into successful films.

These industries can share their audiences in this manner as they are not in direct competition, and the crossover has produced some brilliant results.  With that in mind, here are just some of the greatest movie to game crossovers of all time.

Goldeneye 007 (1997)

The James Bond franchise has been steadily producing games for years that many of you will not even remember the day after you played them, let alone two decades later. Yet, Goldeneye 007 was something else.

Developed by Rare for the N64, his masterpiece had great an impact on the industry. It was a huge hit and was lauded over by the critics. IGN’s Doug Perry said: “the game beautifully blends smart strategy gameplay with fast-action gunmanship” while rating the game 9.7 out of 10.

This title the reason many kids asked for an N64 system. The multiplayer mode, a four-way split screen, was superb and was probably the best of its kind on any console at the time.

The legacy of this game has been huge; the first-person shooters that followed had a tough act to follow.

Top Gun slot (2019)

There are a number of great slot games that have derived from movies, but Top Gun, based on the 1986 classic with Tom Cruise, is a really enjoyable slot that has some nice nostalgia elements for those who grew up as fans of the movie – or indeed watched it years later.

In fact, it might be worth checking out some of the best slot games for more cinema-inspired slots, as there are some excellent movie to game crossovers available on iGaming sites. Microgaming are one of the top casino software providers and have garnered a reputation for being one of the best software providers for casinos and slots sites.

Some, like Top Gun, will have you enjoying a play through your childhood, but with more than 600 themed slots available on trusted online casinos, you will likely find one from your era to keep you entertained.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)

There have been questions raised about the rivalry between the movie and game industry, but this title was a wonderful example of a franchise profiting by putting effort into both.

Developed by EA and released on a number of different platforms including the Nintendo Gamecube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox the game was a fun and imaginative take on the open-world action-adventure.

The player can cast spells, explore Hogwarts and the lore of the franchise and fight enemies in a fun, comic-style environment. Certainly, one of the best games to be released in the Harry Potter series.

Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine (1999)

Released in 1999, the game avoided being too similar to Tomb Raider by really utilizing the Indiana Jones environment and adding more puzzle-solving into the narrative. The PC version was the best version although the title was also available on N64 it tended not to score so highly when critiqued.

Spanning different genres, from online casino slots to FPS and beyond, these are just four of the games that have found success by linking themselves to films. We’re hoping there will be more great titles to come as this unique relationship continues.
