In a shock decision by the BBFC, the uncut version of the notoriously pricey and epic filth fest Caligula has been granted an 18 Certificate for its forthcoming DVD release.

Almost thirty years after its release, the Board will allow us to view the historical porn film not because it is wrong to censor some of Helen Mirren’s greatest work, but because the film is now deemed of “historical interest.” The Telegraph has the scoop.



Sue Clark, spokeswoman for the BBFC, defended its decision to allow the uncut edition into the UK, saying that certificate 18 guidelines in the UK state that “adults should be free to choose their own entertainment within the law”.
