    The Front Line Trailer

In the final decisive battles of The Korean War, the battle-worn armies of North and South Korea face a brutal deadlock on the rugged Aerok Hills. Fears of treachery and collusion with enemy forces trigger an investigation into the men of the South Korean Alligator Company.

A veteran intelligence officer accepts the assignment and discovers mysterious and tragic occurrences surrounding a former comrade he had long thought dead.

In the epic battle for survival that follows, the two men become locked in a deadly battle of wills. One will sacrifice his humanity for the sake of his ‘brothers’; the other will discover compassion in the agonies of war. Ultimately, both will be forced to fight side-by-side, so their loved ones can enjoy freedom for just one more day…

10 Weirdest TV Ads In History

    Here’s one…

    Calvin Klein – Obsession

There was a series of truly weird Bergman-meets-Fellini ads for Obsession fragrance in the ’90s, and this one is the weirdest. Its hapless Justin Bieber-esque protagonist is unable to comprehend the needs of one truly batty femme fatale who has probably set the course for all of his future intimate relationships with the opposite sex. How did these actors read their lines without laughing? Saturday Night Live, of course, brilliantly co-opted this ad campaign which already teetered toward self-parody.

    The rest are here.

What If Zombies Used Google? Review: The Code (2011)

    Review by Daisy Victoria Edwards.

A short but sweet take on the modern spoof-horror genre, short film The Code (Mark Blitch) contradicts the predictable ‘vulnerable couple die’ gig and throws technology and some feminist ass-kicking into the mix. Zombies aren’t my speciality although I’m slowly being introduced to the numerous variations so I thought ‘bring it on’.

The short film reveals the gory happenings during Vanna (Tamara Voss) and Chad’s (Daylon Walton) quiet outdoor date after an ambush of ghouls descend. The beasts however are not quite as prepared as some may expect as there seems to be a clash in their schedules. Zombie leader, Shaun (Taylor James Brandt) harbours a certain civilisation to his ways that chainsaw-wielding maniac, Carl (Todd Terry) and ‘douchebag’ vamp, Neil (Ben Cody Rogers) don’t have. Shaun’s obsession with organisation, his Google calendar and the ‘Killing Code’ lead to a gross, bloody mess after Vanna takes things into her own hands.

The film had a nice twist I wasn’t expecting that made me have more faith in the unconventional storyline and I especially loved Brandt’s Ray Romano-esque humour delivery as he literally bored everyone to death.

This short deserves the 11 awards it received at Houston’s Splatterfest festival including ‘Best Kill’ and ‘Audience Favourite Makeup’. 6 minutes of laughs, blood a-plenty and the monsters everyone knows and loves getting their comeuppance.

  • The Shrine

    The Shrine

“THE SHRINE IS QUITE POSSIBLY ONE OF THE BEST HORROR FILMS OF THE YEAR.” : Horrorcultfilms.co.uk

From award-winning filmmaker Jon Knautz, writer-director of the cult hit horror-comedy Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer, comes The Shrine, “a wonderfully eerie slice of Lovecraftian horror” (BeyondHollywood.com) that sets itself up as a traditional genre entry before brilliantly and unexpectedly pulling the rug from beneath the viewer with a killer twist.

Starring Aaron Ashmore (Smallville; Veronica Mars), Cindy Sampson (Supernatural; Reaper) and Meghan Heffern (The Fog; Chloe)The Shrine has been hailed as “true-blue horror all the way… uncompromising and aggressively nasty” (FearNet.com) and gained plaudits for its “great story arc, solid writing and acting, and a last act that’ll blow you away” (AnythingHorror.com).

A fantastic supernatural chiller that recalls elements of “The Exorcist”, “Jacob’s Ladder” and “The Evil Dead”, The Shrine is an unexpected gem of a horror film and boasts a Grammy nominated (for Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media) score by award-winning composer Ryan Shore (Stan Helsing; Numb; The Girl Next Door).

    Games People Play Review

This short from San Francisco based Two Trick Pony is great for a quick laugh and a trip down memory lane.  It features just two main characters and takes a while for the dialogue to flow, but once it does, it’s quick, witty and most importantly funny!
In just over 5 minutes we see a nervous board game designer pitching his idea to his boss, who is instantly recognisable to the viewer as the Monopoly Man.
The following interaction between designer and boss takes the viewer on a journey through a lot of the games they may have played as children.  Guaranteeing a few ‘I remember that’s a long the way!  Only at the end of the video do we realise that we actually know very little about the designer’s board game, which makes the ending all the funnier.
With brilliant actors and obvious chemistry, the characters really come alive.  Along with great camera work and attention to detail, you have a winning combination.
This short will have you laughing, reaching for your old Monopoly board and warming to men with ridiculous moustaches even when it isn’t Movember. #Win.
The film is here to watch.
