    The Pact On DVD

If you haven’t had a really good scare in a while then don’t panic! Come 1 October 2012 you’ll be petrified and hiding behind a cushion because the break-out horror movie smash of the year, The Pact, is coming to DVD and Blu-ray!

Helmed by first-time feature director Nicolas McCarthy, the film features a great cast including sexy up-and-coming female lead Caity Lotz (Mad Men), Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers), Agnes Bruckner (Kill Theory), Haley Hudson (Killer By Nature) and Kathleen Rose Perkins.

Combining the supernatural shivers of Paranormal Activity with the tense atmospherics of a serial killer thriller, The Pact is a uniquely modern ghost story exploring a troubled, grieving family who are forced to add a violent spirit to their list of problems. The Pact ranks right up there with some of the best ghost films of all time – think Insidious, Stir of Echoes and The Entity. It can even hold its own against the all-time classic The Haunting.

Described as ‘genuinely chilling’ by Starburst and ‘twisted and terrifying’ by Film4 FrightFest, The Pact isn’t one to be missed!

    St. George’s Day Trailer

St. George’s Day is Frank Harper’s directorial debut. Starring Harper (Bend It Like Beckham, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, The Football Factory), Craig Fairbrass (Cliffhanger), Vincent Regan (300), Neil Maskell (Kill List), Luke Treadaway (Attack The Block), Keeley Hazell (Like Crazy), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Jamie Foreman (Nil by Mouth, Eastenders) and Ashley Walters (Anuvahood) this is a suspense filled drama of two cousins and their one last big job before retirement beckons.

At the top of their game, respected and revered by fellow gangsters, cousins Ray Collishaw (Craig Fairbrass) and Mickey Mannock (Frank Harper) plan the biggest robbery of their careers when a drug drop goes awry. Pursued by the angry Russian mob Mickey persuades reluctant Ray to do one last job for the family. Under the guise of an England vs Germany football friendly, masked by football hooliganism, Ray, Mickey, and their crack team of criminal masterminds embark on the ultimate heist. But with the Russian’s hot on their trail, a wily detective (Jamie Foreman) with a vendetta, and a mole in their midst – can the boys pull it off one last time?

  • The Harsh Light Of Day

    The Harsh Light Of Day

Some films capture memories we like to remember, others record moments we are dying to forget!

A genre-splicing journey into the darkest depths of the soul. The Harsh Light Of Day is a new British vampire-themed horror, with a story of revenge and loss at its heart. Shot on a micro-budget on location in Dorset, England it is the feature debut from writer/director Oliver S Milburn.

Daniel Shergold (Dan Richardson), a writer on the occult, is a happily married man until the day his wife is murdered, and he is left paralysed in a brutal, seemingly random attack, by a group of masked intruders. When the police are unable to find the perpetrators, Daniel is left in a pit of bitterness and anger. Desperately seeking vengeance, Daniel is brought to the attention of a mysterious stranger who changes everything. He offers Daniel something he hadn’t dared hope for, something that shouldn’t even be possible. He will help him walk, help him search, help him find vengeance – and it soon becomes clear that his wife’s murder wasn’t entirely without purpose. All this, but at one hell of a price…

Following a limited theatrical release earlier this year, The Harsh Light Of Day will be released on DVD by Monster Pictures UK on 1 October 2012.

8 Classic,Over-The-Top Films About Mental Illness

    Here’s one…

Whatever Happened To Baby Jane? (1962):

This bizarre, gruesome, and yes, completely over-the-top star vehicle for two women, who in real life certainly reveled in melodrama, was likely green-lit thanks to the earlier success of Psycho, as well as the casting of Joanne Woodward and her real-life nemesis Bette Davis.

The crazy, abusive behavior of Davis’ character Baby Jane toward Woodward, who plays her crippled sister Blanche, including serving Blanche a dead rat for supper, is both terrifying and hilarious to watch. Much to Woodward’s chagrin, Davis was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance.

    The rest are here.
