Trinity Film is delighted to announce that its film BUTTERCUP BILL – the highly-anticipated debut feature from New York film-making duo Remy Bennett and Emilie Richard-Froozan and the first production of Sadie Frost and Emma Comley’s new outfit Blonde to Black Pictures – will celebrate its London Premiere on 1st September at Curzon Soho ahead of its theatrical release on Friday 4th September.
With a unique women-only film crew, Buttercup Bill’s premiere will feature a screen talk to discuss women in film with Sadie Frost and filmmakers which will be hosted by Edith Bowman. The premiere’s afterparty will celebrate the film’s release with a DJ set from Chris Hayden (Florence & The Machine).
Having premiered at New Orleans, Raindance and MARFA film festivals, Buttercup Bill follows mutually obsessed friends struggling to find something like love beneath the wreckage of a broken past. After the suicide of a childhood playmate, Pernilla (Remy Bennett) loiters in the seedy underbelly of New York’s nightlife until she calls on estranged Patrick (Evan Louison) and arrives on the doorstep of his isolated Louisiana cabin.
Shut in there together, surrounded by the peeling walls of Southern religion and the bottle, they re-light what they once had. What is at first innocent and playful gives way to cruel games of sexual jealousy as the pair attempt to reconcile a terrible secret that haunts them both.
With a breakthrough performance from lead and co-director Remy Bennett (grand-daughter of Tony Bennett), Buttercup Bill is a stylish, provocative and unflinching portrayal of infatuation rusted with guilt.
