ALTERGEIST: Quick Chat With Kristina Anapau

How did you get involved in ALTERGEIST?

The script came to me through my attorney, I loved it, and went in the next day to audition for the director and producers.

How much are you like your character, Theresa?

There are a lot of similarities between Theresa and myself – I think as an actor, you definitely tend to gravitate toward roles you can relate to on multiple levels.

Tedi Sarafian directed the movie.  How was he to work with?

Tedi was so much fun to work with—I was a big fan of his work prior to doing the film (Terminator 3, Tank Girl).  He writes really wonderfully developed female characters.  We had a great time bringing Theresa to life.

How well did you get on with cast and crew?

Altergeist has definitely been one of my favourite projects to work on for this reason—we all got along really well—it was a very familial atmosphere, which is always such a pleasure.

Do you have a favourite moment in the production?

I loved my scenes with David Weidoff who plays Ashen Till.  David is an incredible actor.  We had to have a bit of a strained relationship on screen, which really did require acting, since we got along so well in real life!

What do you think audiences will get out of ALTERGIEST?

Audiences will love that Altergeist will have them completely entertained and scared every step of the way, and do so while maintaining really well developed characters and absolutely beautiful cinematography.  I think those later two elements are often lost in genre movies—the filmmakers did a great job at doing the opposite with Altergeist. It’s very multidimensional. No pun intended.

Tell us about COLOR IT NEW, your fashion brand?

Color It New is a fashion product that is going to change peoples closets forever.  I’m really excited for the launch this fall—it’s been 4 years in the making and I can’t wait to share it with the world!

Is fashion your first love?

I wouldn’t say it’s my first love, but I do love beautifully made pieces—and shoes—I get very excited about beautiful shoes.

Where do you see it going?

I hope Color It New will become very popular very quickly—I think people everywhere are going to love it—it’s a very empowering and fun product.

Any gossip you can tell us from True Blood?

I’ve been sworn to secrecy from my first moment on set☺

How did the True Blood gig get to you?

It came through my agents.  I auditioned for Alan Ball and got a call just a few hours later that I had the role!

Do you prefer TV or film?

I like them both for different reasons.  I like great writing, and there is so much of that across both mediums these days.
